Let’s Not Let Our Town be Divided by Hate

We must not let our communities be divided by hate. The media and politicians are making excuses saying they are only following what the public wants when they are stoking up divisions and hatred with their emphasis on “boatscaping” i.e. blaming refugees for the economic difficulties we are all facing today.

People want easy answers and they may find short term release in punching downwards. But people need realistic solutions not a punch bag. After over 14 years of people crushing austerity cuts, that have decimated our basis living standards, we badly need to come together and rebuild a fairer more equitable country, where the rich do NOT have obscene and growing wealth and the vast majority of us are NOT floundering to cover the basics. With fairer management there is enough for everyone.

Truly. Another World Is Possible. It needn’t be like this. There is no time for hate in our society. We need to come together on workable solutions fast. Don’t follow the political parties that preach the politics of hate and division. There are alternatives that advocate building a society of economic fairness for all and respect. Without this we seriously risk a steeper descent into increasing authoritarianism.

We are in 1930’s times again. We must learn from history and curb the dangerously worrying trajectory we are on.

There is no time for hatred. For Hating refugees. For islamophobia. For antisemitism. For racism. (And No time for Any Of The Other Forms Of Hate Our Society Is Blighted By).

We’ve had the deaths at Heaton Park Synagogue and the murderous attack at the Peace Haven within a few days of one another. This has to stop. Eastbourne Solidarity opposes hatred.

And yes. Sometimes we need to stand up and oppose with a fighting spirit. We oppose the rise of far right elements in our town. And yes, sometimes people do not realise that the anti refugee fervour taking hold at present IS coming from a far right source. But please let’s learn from history. Let’s create an alternative.

And a huge well done to Eastbourne Stand Up to Racism for all they do.

And here is our MP, Josh Babarinde on the subject:-

Josh – Hate has no home in Eastbourne
